Is anyone besides me excited to see golf back in the Olympics for the first time in 112 years? With golf back in the Olympic games a fresh new daily fantasy opportunity has presented its self to fantasy golf nuts like me everywhere. Despite being relatively unsuccessful, I fill out a Draft Kings lineup most weeks on the PGA Tour. Despite the diminished field, this week is no different as I present my Draft Kings team for the Rio games. Play starts Thursday, get your lineups in pronto!

Rickie Fowler (10,900)

Call this a homer pick but I cant pick a non-American to win the first men’s golf gold medal in 112 years, Rickie Fowler is my choice to win the Gold Medal. Fowler seems to have a knack in big spots outside the 4 majors. Fowler has won the Scottish Open, The Players Championship, and has finished top 5 in all four majors in the same year (a rare feat). I expect Rio to be a perfect spot for Fowler to get back on the world stage. Choose with confidence.

Rafael Cabrera-Bello (9,200)

Representing Spain, Cabrera-Bello has been on the verge of breaking out in a huge way. Cabrera-Bello is all but a lock to represent Europe in September’s Ryder Cup. With 5 top fives on tour this season and 8 straight made cuts Cabrera- Bello should reward his owners with a solid performance in Rio. I predict a silver medal for the talented Spaniard.

Emiliano Grillo (9,600)

Grillo has all the talent in the world and is in elite company as a 23 year old that looks to be the undisputed future of golf. Bursting on the scene in a big way, Grillo is in the mix for PGA Tour Rookie of the Year with a win and making 18/21 of cuts. Grillo also impressed in the most recent major finishing tied for 13th at the PGA Championship. Look for Grillo to represent Argentina well this weekend in Rio with a bronze medal.

Alex Cejka (6,600)

In a budget fantasy format like Draft Kings you need to hit on your studs which in our case are Rickie Fowler, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, and Emiliano Grillo. Also do your homework for great value players to fit around your big budget players. Alex Cejka is perfect!Representing Germany, Cejka is red hot on tour finishing 5th at the RBC Canadian Open and 11th at last week’s Travelers Championship. His stellar 65 last Sunday was put on the back burner by Jim Furyk’s epic 58. Look for Cejka to stay hot and potentially be on the podium when medals are awarded Sunday.

Fabian Gomez (6,300)

Gomez hails from Argentina and is one of the cheapest golfers available this week. This was surprising considering he has 3 top tens and a win this season. I don’t expect him to be in medal contention, but I think it’s an absolute certainty he out performs his 6,300 value.

Gregory Boudry (7,000)

Boudry is one of the most consistent players on the European Tour. The Frenchmen hasn’t posted a win, but has made 17/20 cuts. In the most recent major, Boudry posted 4 rounds in the sixties to finish just inside the top 20. Although I don’t believe it will result in a medal, I expect a solid consistent four rounds for Boudry in Rio. I see him as a very nice compliment to potential point monsters like Fowler, Bello, and Grillo.
